On the bridge, you make the decisions – for the ship, for the crew, and for up to several hundred passengers who entrust you with their time on the Weser. Whether it’s a harbour tour, a wedding on the Gräfin Emma, or a lights cruise to the Schlachtezauber: you are captain, host, and technical lead all in one. A job for people who don’t just accept responsibility but seek it – and for whom the beaming faces of passengers at the end of a successful voyage mean more than any office with a view.

Job Description

You navigate our passenger vessels in full compliance with all statutory and operational regulations. Taking responsibility for the ship, the passengers, and the crew is second nature to you and something you enjoy. You take pride in “your ship” and ensure it is always in top condition, both visually and technically. You are interested in technology and work alongside the crew on maintenance and repair tasks.

For you it is equally part of the captain’s duties to make sure there is always enough fuel on board, that the oil cans in the engine room never run dry, and – of course – that the passengers are in good spirits and enjoying the trip. You feel at home on all vessels, whether an elegant passenger ship, a party boat, or a ferry. If need be, you also check or sell tickets.

The shipping company can count on you as a reliable team player who brings all their experience – or is eager to gain it with us. Your workplace is where others spend their leisure time. That is why working evenings or weekends does not bother you. A nine-to-five job is not for you; you are customer- and service-oriented and speak good German.

A Union patent with maritime waterways or an A patent for inland navigation

Hal över Bremer Fahrgastschifffahrt GmbH operates a fleet of seven passenger vessels and ferries on the Weser and its tributaries in Bremen and the surrounding region. In addition to scheduled and round-trip services, we provide charter cruises and events.
