Accessibility Statement
At Hal över, we want our website to be accessible to everyone – regardless of whether someone has a disability or not. Improving digital accessibility is not a box-ticking exercise for us, but an ongoing commitment.
Legal Basis
This statement is based on the requirements of the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) – the German law implementing the European Accessibility Act (EAA, Directive (EU) 2019/882) into national law.
It applies to our website:
www.hal-oever.de
Current Accessibility Status
Our website currently partially meets the requirements of WCAG 2.1, conformance level AA. Many criteria are already implemented – we are actively working to address the remaining areas.
Known Limitations
In the interest of transparency, we document below where barriers currently exist and why immediate resolution is not possible in some cases:
- Navigation (IDs): The main navigation technically exists in two versions – one for desktop, one for mobile devices. As both share the same ID, this may cause orientation issues for screen readers. A fix requires deep intervention in the site structure and is therefore complex.
- Regions: The mobile and desktop navigation share the same landmark region (nav), which may make it harder for screen readers to distinguish between them.
- Skip Links: The skip link for jumping to navigation, search or main content is not embedded within a designated page region.
- Heading Hierarchy: In isolated cases, heading levels are skipped (e.g. directly from H2 to H4). All new content is created with a consistent and correct heading structure.
- Main Content Area: The main content region is not always implemented at the top level and occasionally appears more than once on a page.
- Alternative Texts: In a small number of cases, image descriptions are either too lengthy or not precise enough.
- ARIA Attributes: In isolated instances, ARIA values such as aria-controls, aria-roledescription or aria-label do not yet fully comply with the standard. This primarily affects complex dynamic elements whose optimisation requires additional time.
We are committed to resolving these issues step by step and to developing our editorial and technical processes so that accessibility is considered as a matter of course going forward.

Enforcement Procedure
If you have not received a satisfactory response to your enquiry, you may contact the competent market surveillance authority. In Germany, this is the relevant state authority in accordance with the BFSG. Further information is available from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS).
Our Goal
A website that truly works for everyone – that is the standard we hold ourselves to. We see accessibility as an ongoing process, not a one-time task.
