"Waterbus" Project and Extension of the Bremen – Vegesack – Bremerhaven Service

Goal: To set up an attractive ship’s route between the Bremen city centre, the Überseestadt, Waterfront and the Weserstadion, and to extend the regular service between Bremen and Bremerhaven.

The Beluga Group and Hal över have worked together to develop a transport concept featuring brand new vessel types offering a strong reduction in CO2 for environmental protection.The Waterbus shuttle should run frequently between the Bremen city centre and Waterfront (ca. every 30 min.), and also enable a shuttle service to large events at the Weserstadion, the Bremen city centre, the Überseestadt and Waterfront. This would also lead to an optimal use of the large car parks near the Weser and relieve the highly residential eastern and central parts of the city from individual motor car traffic. Transportation peaks of up to 6000 people travelling to a Werder Bremen football match are possible.
